AfDev.org has acquired www.afdevinfo.com - AfDevInfo - an online database of organisations and people involved in the social, political and economic development of Sub-Saharan Africa. The existing database will form the engine serving a suite of new information tools for African consultants.

AfDevInfo has, up until now, been compiled by African postgraduate students in London. It became the fastest growing online resource for structured information on Africa and is currently used by over 5,000 visitors daily.

AfDev.org intends to shift the data collection process to Africa, with a researcher in every country.

AfDevInfo is currently sustained through advertising, but it is hoped that funding can be found to further develop the database.
